Chatham County District Attorney Meg Heap is a three time incumbent who began her career as a victim advocate, who then went to law school to become a prosecutor. She ran for District Attorney initially partially in response to the deteriorating relationships between the District Attorney’s Office and the local police departments. A lifelong supporter of police officers, Heap understands that the success of the District Attorney’s Office is in direct correlation to the relationships with the local departments. She believes that the key to a safe community is open and honest communication and strong community support for officers, prosecutors and the community at large. Heap recently received endorsement from the PBA in Georgia.
